Acupuncture for Smoking Cessation
Acupuncture has been shown to reduce cravings in people who are already motivated and taking steps towards quitting smoking. The number and frequency of treatments to show results will vary from person to person depending on root causes, health history, and other individualized factors to be determined during the initial appointment. That said, my most common recommendation to begin to see progress is a series of 1 initial + 4 follow up appointments, at a frequency of 1-2x per week, followed by a reassessment.
Treatments will take into account the whole health picture of the person and may include needles, cupping, and other modalities. Auricular (ear) acupuncture is especially useful for reducing cravings (see NADA protocol.)
